Services that We Offer:

Line Editing

One of our favorite services to offer! Work with us to make your prose sing! Line editing is often interchanged with the term copyediting. However, line editing is unique in that it blends copyediting and developmental editing. Not only will we edit for grammar, spelling, and punctuation, but we will look at your book line by line to consider word choice, syntax, and the beauty of the prose. We will recommend shifts and changes to perfect your manuscript. We will work closely together over several weeks to ensure that the final product of your book is as perfect as can be. This is a very detailed line-by-line edit to perfect your book.

We will provide an intensive Line Edit that will whip the details of your book in the best shape possible for release. Our goal is to give your book a clear advantage in a competitive marketplace and exceed your expectations. Every sentence and every word in your book will be carefully considered. Not only will we edit for spelling, grammar, punctuation, tense consistency, and continuity, but we will also suggest changes to sentence structure, voice consistency, tone, and more.

Copyediting

Work with us to whip the details of your manuscript into publication-ready shape. We will comb through each sentence and word of your novel, focusing mainly on correcting spelling, punctuation, grammar, tense, and continuity. We will also lightly suggest ways to perfect your prose. This is a detailed edit to make sure that the mechanics of your book are in tip-top shape but doesn’t go into quite the same line-by-line detail as a line edit.

Final Proofread

A Final Proofread is the very last step in your publishing journey. If you’ve made it this far, congratulations! Publication Day is just around the corner! It’s time to celebrate.

A Final Proofread puts one last pair of laser-focused eyes on your manuscript. Ideally, your proofreader won’t be your Line Editor or a beta reader. This type of edit is designed to utilize a third party’s eyes to be a final layer of coverage for typos, continuity errors, spelling, and grammar errors. A proofreader will make sure that you didn’t suddenly switch the spelling of a character’s name mid-novel or suddenly change the way you use ellipses midway.

When you work with us for a Final Proofread, we will go through several rounds of proofreading your novel. We won’t be focusing on how pretty sentences sound or any plot elements. Rather, we will only focus on the detailed grammatical elements of your book. When we turn it over to you, it will be ready to release to the world.

Developmental Edit

A Developmental Edit is the perfect choice for the author determined to publish a book that goes above and beyond expectations. If you have a manuscript that is nearly finished but feels somewhat incomplete or problematic, this may be the editing choice for you. We will dive deep into the plot and overall structure of your novel, analyzing it for structure, characters, genre expectations, theme, point of view, tension, pacing, reader satisfaction, and other essential elements. We will suggest edits to repair weak links within your prose. Our focus will be on the big picture, rather than the details of your novel. We will suggest ways to increase tension, improve the plot, and deepen the characters and theme.

Manuscript Critique

Sometimes you just need a second pair of eyes on your manuscript to ensure that you are on the right track. You are confident that you have a great story in the works, but you don’t feel ready for a full Developmental or Copyedit. The Manuscript Critique to the rescue. We will read and provide detailed notes to help guide you to a fully finished novel.

You can choose to have us conduct a full manuscript read-through and critique or choose to have us work with only a few chapters.
